Executive Chef Praveen Pedankar, known as "Parry" by his friends. Although his family is Maharashtrian, Parry was born in Erode, Tamil Nadu in South India and grew up in the Garden City Bangalore, Karnataka. Praveen started his Culinary journey at the very young age of 16, working as a Apprentice with the world renowned Taj Group of hotels of India. until he attended Bangalore University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Hotel Management . Actually enjoyed working while in school as it helped to stay updated with the latest trends in the culinary industry. Upon graduation, Became a employee with the Taj Group. He continued his employment with the company for the next 4 years, working in various positions and at various locations through out India. Proving his skills at easily adopting to different situations and various levels of responsibility.. Making the decision to leave the company and travel the world, Accepted a position as a Sailor for Carnival Cruise Lines. All his work experience gathered through out his career came to good use while he was with Carnival. After sailing for five years, decided to come to the United States, the "Land Of Opportunity".because he knew that there would be many opportunities for a talented man like himself. He moved to the Tri-State area and began working at a variety of successful restaurants, from Coramandel Cuisine of India in Darien, CT to Tamarind New York, Brick Lane Curry House, New York. The Village Grille (French American Cuisine) Genghis Grill, Tennessee.( Assistant Manager), Nanking , Long Island New York, (Executive Chef). Has continued to keep himself in tune with the culinary industry by competing in various American Culinary Federation competitions. Televised special for Food network Nationally viewed ,The Secret Lives of Fiery Foods featuring re-invented Phaal Curry. Also an active member of New York Cares program volunteering for various charity work, working in kitchens feeding the homeless, centers for the senior citizens also preparing meals,and conducting classes to high risk teenagers in Brooklyn.
